Master Murray Cheung Represents Canada at the 2025 World Games in Chengdu

Chengdu, China, August 2025. The team at One Taichi Wushu is proud to share that Master Murray Cheung recently represented Team Canada at The World Games 2025, held in Chengdu, China.

Competing in the Men’s Taichi event under the Wushu category, Master Cheung stood out as the only male Wushu/Taichi athlete from Canada invited to participate in this prestigious international competition.

The World Games gathered elite athletes from around the globe, showcasing disciplines that highlight both athletic excellence and cultural artistry. In the highly competitive Taichi division, Master Cheung demonstrated outstanding skill and composure, performing in both Taijiquan (Taichi Hand Routine) and Taijijian (Taichi Sword Routine). His performances earned him an impressive 7th-place overall ranking based on combined scores.

Master Cheung’s participation marks a proud moment for Canadian Wushu and Taichi, as well as for the entire One Taichi Wushu community. His dedication to training, cultural exchange, and excellence in martial arts continues to inspire students and practitioners across Canada.

“It was an incredible honor to represent Canada on the world stage,” said Master Cheung. “Sharing Taichi alongside the world’s best athletes was both humbling and inspiring. I’m excited to bring these experiences back to our students and community.”

One Taichi Wushu specializes in Taichi and Wushu. Led by a distinguished instructor with numerous medals from international competitions. The school was established in 2024 by Instructor Murray Cheung (張耀中). Former and current National Team member of the Wushu and Taichi teams.

Murray Cheung is a dedicated and passionate Wushu practitioner with a deep-rooted commitment to sharing his extensive knowledge and experience. Having spent years perfecting his craft and immersing himself in the art of Wushu.

 

His journey has not only honed his technical skills but also enriched his understanding of Wushu’s cultural and philosophical dimensions. Driven by a desire to inspire and cultivate the next generation of martial artists. His goal is to ensure that the beauty and discipline of Wushu continue to thrive and inspire others, just as it has for him throughout his life.
